About
My name is Saundra Staggers, and I’ve been living in Canada for the past 15 years, building a life I never quite expected. Growing up, the idea of working in the casino world, let alone writing about it, seemed like something out of a movie. But life has a funny way of unfolding, and here I am today, a casino blogger sharing my journey with the world.
I was born and raised in a small town in Minnesota, where life was simple and predictable. My family wasn’t particularly well-off, and most of my childhood memories revolve around modest living, hard work, and a deep-rooted sense of community. I always had big dreams, though. I knew I wanted more than what my small town could offer, even if I wasn’t quite sure what that meant at the time.
My first taste of casino life came during a trip to Las Vegas with a few friends after college. We were young, adventurous, and ready to experience everything Vegas had to offer. What started as a fun weekend turned into a fascination for me. I wasn’t just interested in playing games – I was captivated by the mechanics, the psychology behind the games, and how casinos ran like well-oiled machines. Something clicked in me during that trip, and I realized there was an entire world behind the casino doors that intrigued me more than the flashing lights and ringing slot machines.
Fast forward a few years, and I found myself in Canada, where I had moved with my then-boyfriend (now husband), Jeff. Canada was a fresh start for both of us, and while it was an adjustment, it felt like the right move. I knew I didn’t want to work a typical 9-to-5 job, so I started looking for ways to combine my interests with a flexible career. That’s when blogging entered the picture.
At first, my blog was a little all over the place. I wrote about various topics – lifestyle, travel, and my life as an American transplant in Canada. It wasn’t until I started writing a few posts about online casinos that I realized I had struck a chord with readers. People were interested in learning more about the world of casinos, especially from someone who wasn’t just an insider but a real person sharing honest experiences.
The more I wrote about casino games, the more I realized I had found my niche. I started focusing on explaining games in a simple, relatable way. I wasn’t trying to be an expert; I was just sharing my own experiences – the wins, the losses, and everything in between. Over time, I became known for breaking down complex casino concepts into bite-sized, understandable pieces. My readers loved that I wasn’t trying to sell them on anything – I was just being real.
Writing about casinos gave me an outlet to explore the games I loved without the financial risk. I researched everything – from blackjack strategies to the intricacies of slot machines, to how live dealer games worked. I tested theories, played games (often losing more than I’d like to admit), and shared all of it on my blog. As my readership grew, so did my knowledge of the casino industry, especially online gambling in Canada, which was rapidly evolving.
One of the most exciting aspects of my blogging journey has been the connections I’ve made with people all over the world. I’ve met casino enthusiasts, game developers, and even a few professional gamblers who’ve shared their insights with me. Being able to share their stories, along with my own, has made my blog feel like a community. I’ve also had the chance to visit some of Canada’s most renowned casinos, like Casino de Montréal and Fallsview Casino, which have added a new dimension to my writing.
Of course, it hasn’t always been easy. There have been moments of doubt, especially in the early years when I wasn’t sure if this blogging thing would ever turn into something sustainable. But I kept at it, driven by my passion for the games and the incredible stories that come out of the casino world. Jeff has always been my biggest supporter, encouraging me to follow my passion even when things got tough. His belief in me has been a constant source of strength.
Today, my blog is more than just a hobby – it’s my career. I work with a few online casinos, writing guides, reviews, and content that helps players navigate the complex world of gambling. I’m not here to tell people to gamble or not gamble, but to offer information and advice that can help them make informed choices. I believe in responsible gambling, and I’ve made it a mission to highlight the importance of setting limits and knowing when to step away.
Living in Canada has been an adventure in itself. The culture, the people, and the natural beauty of this country have shaped who I am today. I never thought I’d end up as a casino blogger in the Great White North, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Canada has given me the space to grow, both personally and professionally, and I’m proud of the life Jeff and I have built here.
When I’m not blogging or visiting casinos, I love hiking in the Canadian Rockies, exploring local coffee shops, and spending time with Jeff and our two dogs, Luna and Max. Life is busy but fulfilling, and I feel incredibly lucky to be doing something I love every day.
My story is still unfolding, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you never know where life will take you. From a small town in Minnesota to the bustling casino world of Canada, my journey has been unexpected and rewarding. And through it all, I’ve discovered that sometimes, the best bets you can make are the ones on yourself.
